REMEMBER THE SACRED

It’s so easy to get utterly swamped by the demands of the practical, survivalist based world. One of the first things to be sacrificed is our connection with the sacred. Yet without any connection to the sacred, to the divine essence that imbues us at our soul (and heart) level, we are at the mercy of a kind of rationalism that may easily develop into fundamentalism and isolation.

In these stormy times we must somehow remember and nurture for ourselves the exploration of what is sacred to us, what hand the divine plays in our lives and to what extent we forget that connection in the distraction.

Don’t forget. Foster that remembering, bring it closer, make it intimate. It is grace that carries us in each moment, but in our forgetting we imagine (we have to) do all this ourselves.

A harmonic expression.

Have great depth
But also
Crystal transparency

Yet have your roots in the mud.

We have but a moment
A flicker of time
In eternity
Just this

To be aware of this truth
Is to wake up
From the dream of life
To the magnificence
And the miracle

How could one do anything but love?

Just flags waving
In the wind of eternity
All touched by the same rain
Warmed by the same sun
All made of the same thin fabric
Fluttering our way through time.

Those who have been into the darkness
Speak of the light therein
Listen to them.

Your life is a river 
With turbulence, whirlpools 
And peaceful calm moments 
Tranquil and beautiful 
And then off you go again
Into the rapids and the danger
You have no control 
Only the invitation
To surrender
Into the flow.

Be the movement and stillness at the same time.
Be the unfathomable depth and yet still know the waves that crash and roll on the shore.
Be vast and open, whether the clouds or the rain pour down upon your earth.
Be it all.

When desire rises
And threatens to pull you
Away from your center
Be with it
Neither moving towards or away,
Discomfort arises, heat, fear
A voice says go towards it
Don’t
Just be with it
And desire falls.

Be a master of the waves
Not a slave to them.
