WHEN LIFE ROCKS US
Life is unpredictable by its very nature. Our ancestors had to deal with it in their way and we have to deal with it in our way. Life in the modern world is nuanced and complicated. The ground is easily pulled from under our feet. Searching for the stable ground is natural and built into us. But control is ultimately beyond us.
So how do we face that fact? By engaging in the dance of an ever deeper acceptance that the weather, although preferable when its calm and sunny, inevitably offers us the storm and if not in life will it come, then it may well come in death. Acceptance without resignation, without folding, without denying feelings, without denying overwhelm, without denying mind’s runaway train of thought, yet still returning to an inner acceptance that, yes, life itself is beyond my control. Wow. That is humbling to the ego self.

The inner marriage Of presence and openness Is a union That allows unconditional love To flower. ----------------------- At first you fall in love with the beloved And then you become the beloved And then everything and everyone Becomes the beloved All is God. ------------------------ Love delivers us Back to the garden We never left Except in our minds But many veils Hang upon our eyes And they must all fall For love is naked And pride beguiles us. ---------------------- This is you A divine movement, a play An unimaginable pattern Woven breath by breath, Wave upon wave, For no reason But beauty itself Which is love. ----------------------- Friend, love is chasing you, Trying to get your attention But you are moving too fast Stop for a while And allow the eternal breath To roll in and out Everything will come home. ----------------------- I confess I find the world daunting I find money a mysterious energy Power without conscience I find repulsive Corruption astonishes me Kindness humbles me Presence reminds me Humility softens me Authenticity invigorates me Wisdom inspires me And love knows me. ----------------------- We must become our own healers And return to the union we are We wander lost to ourselves for years Little realizing that lostness Is part of our mythic journey That heralds the return to harmony. ---------------------- Shift location From ‘I am in the world’ To ‘the world is in me.’ This one radical change in perception Dissolves the me As the center of the universe. ---------------------- True love is like a mirror It makes you face yourself. ---------------------- All wounds heal In the light Of unconditional love. ----------------------- When a people have wandered so far from home And forgotten something essential about their nature They will be reminded of it and brought to their knees By the hand of their own karma The shadow does that. -----------------------
