THE WARRIOR OF OPENNESS

There is nothing wrong with kindness
Nothing wrong with tenderness
Nothing wrong with surrender
Nothing wrong with humility
And nothing wrong with openness

If these profound qualities, essential to our humanity,
Need any justification or render us slightly embarrassed
That does not say something about those qualities or about us
It says something about how far we are drifting
From what is fundamental and true, vital for goodness

These are not weak qualities, despite their portrayal
They are the mark of the warrior, the true, the brave
They are the mark of those who have seen something real
And decided to follow it
They are all measures of the heart that has been activated
Which is why they are held in a certain contempt

The mind, individual and collective, cannot handle these qualities
Because they dissolve division and separation
And promote unity and communion
And the mind is rendered inert and almost useless

So, I say, choose to turn towards tenderness, towards kindness
And towards openness, again and again and again,
Until that is what you know in your essence
And soon your own mind will become tamed
And might even enjoy it.
