THE WALLED GARDEN
The garden Is full of beautiful flowers
Innocence hovers in the air with grace
There is a peaceful presence
Not caused by any event
Yet the garden is hidden
Behind a great wall
I asked, ‘Why is the wall there
Keeping the beauty of the garden hidden?’
You said, ‘Everyone has a wall to stop others trampling the garden. We must
protect its vulnerability.’
‘But who gets to see the garden and enjoy its beauty and peace?’ I asked
‘Sometimes, now and then, I let someone in to the garden,’ You said, ‘But not for long.’
It’s more important to keep it protected. Maybe one day there will be no need for a wall. But not yet, it’s too dangerous.’
‘Well at least you know there is a beautiful garden there, some have forgotten all about the garden and only see the wall,’ I replied, ‘And that is the cause of great sadness.’
