THE UNION WE LONG FOR
I don’t believe we can, ultimately,
Do anything about the human condition
Apart from deeply accepting it
Each of us has a journey, a destiny, we must fulfill
We are governed by the divine hand
That leads us hither and thither
Sometimes into a beautiful landscape
Sometimes into the center of a tumult
We struggle with life
Imagining we have free will
And yet, the deeper we go,
The less free will it seems we actually have
All I can really say is,
At the heart of it all
At the very bottom of the ocean
Everything is known to be one pattern
And the only choice we may have is to deeply accept that
There is the surrender we seek
And the union we long for.
