THE TRUTH OF HUMILITY
Humility is a whirlpool That the ego fears For it sees its own death You cannot embrace true humility And uphold the aggrandized ego At the same time It has to be one or the other Humility is the humbling Of that fragile, righteous Arrogant, embittered, convinced Identity we assume is us Humility is the end of us Therein lies its profound power And beauty And that is why it is denied, Feared, avoided, buried And held at arm’s length Who speaks of humility now? No one speaks its name For it is an outcast in our society To the actors and actresses It is useless unless it serves a purpose But the feigning of humility is a fraud An act put on by a cunning ego That seeks to use humility To get what it wants There is nothing to get for the self in humility Humility is a kind of devotion And the willingness to be humble Is neither weak nor pious But actually the mark of a warrior of the heart.
