THE SWEET SILENCE OF ACCEPTANCE
In the deepest acceptance We discover the silence At the heart of all being The argument is over The resistance is finished No more words need be said Or understanding reached The self may still make some noise But it no longer bothers us Or, and this is likely, Even the self, the noisy self, The fighting and arguing self The self that is scared of all things, Even that self May quieten down and fall silent And what sweetness that is! For ultimately even the self is looking for peace… And of course this tender, silent, acceptance On the deepest level May only last for a moment Or a short time But it is this touching and tasting of it That is like a healing remedy That starts working its way Through the whole of our life With its grace.
