THE SUBTLE THREAD THAT HOLDS YOU
I sang my broken heart Into the wilderness Let loose my sorrow To the ears of the mighty oak That stood majestic and open I poured out the love That had graced me As I let go of all grievance and woe I gave up being someone As the mask fell For the thousandth time And I simply stopped putting it back I walked naked and true Through valley and market Through urban desolation Of empty souls All struggling to find meaning At last I came to an ocean That whispered its secret invitation to me Quieten down, sweet child, it said Everything returns to the source Even as you long and yearn and struggle There is still a subtle thread That holds you.
