THE SHIFT FROM THINKING TO BEING
Awakening is often imagined as a lofty goal to be achieved through effort or intellect. But in truth, it cannot be forced. Spiritual freedom doesn’t come from striving to think enlightened thoughts or from chasing external experiences. Instead, it arises naturally when we prepare the inner temple—our body, emotions, and energy—to receive it.
The Body as a Sacred Temple
The journey might begin with the body. Practices like detoxing, fasting, or cleansing can help align the physical vessel with the deeper process of transformation. These acts of care disrupt the status quo of the body, stirring emotions that have long been buried. This discomfort is not a sign of failure but an invitation to meet the emotional layers we carry.
Healing the Emotional Body
Many emotions are lodged in the body or held in the subtle energy field, forming a dense protective armor. Often originating in childhood or life’s painful moments, these neglected feelings remain locked away. Releasing them may involve catharsis, body work, or therapeutic approaches such as primal therapy or rebirthing. As these dense energies are released, the body and heart become lighter, more open, and ready to embrace something new.
Letting Go of Beliefs
Rigid beliefs—about who we are and how the world works—must also be released. The mind's need to define, control, and categorize only limits freedom. When these mental structures dissolve, space opens for a deeper transformation to occur, a process akin to the phoenix rising from the ashes.
Beyond the Mind
True spiritual awakening cannot be achieved through mental effort. Even the most “enlightened” thoughts are inadequate for such a profound shift. Awakening happens when we let go of the mind’s grasp and surrender to something greater. This is a shift from thinking to being—a visceral, embodied knowing of the divine truth within.
A Space for Grace
As we clean and prepare the inner temple, grace takes over. We realize that what we seek is not outside us—it is already here. Awakening is not about adding something to ourselves but removing the barriers that obscure our innate divine nature.
The path of transformation is not a task to complete or a goal to achieve. It is a process of tenderly preparing ourselves—body, mind, and heart—to be available to the sacred presence that is always here.

Nothing can be possessed Everything is borrowed All ideas of ownership Stem from egoic thinking And when that is dropped Everything is seen as it is A flux of appearances Moving in and out of emptiness Like ripples On the eternal ocean. --------------------------- This is why the dervish whirls To be empty of self And filled with the divine A constant prayer Of surrender And devotion. Be like the dervish. ------------------------- It is called the fire of truth Because all the falseness within Must burn to ashes And from those ashes Transformation comes And the phoenix arises. ----------------------- In the sorrow And grief Know the grace of love That holds you In unconditional embrace. ---------------------- Let your grief And your sorrow Be the water That feeds The beauty Of the world. -------------------- To fall on your own sword is not to fail but to bow to become humble to know the sweetness of being nothing and, in that nothingness, to find everything. ------------------- Vulnerability is the gateway to freedom To kneel before the rawness of life Is to be humbled by its truth This is where awakening truly begins The journey asks for everything Our light, our shadow, our masks, and our truth Only when we bring it all can we truly taste freedom. -------------------- We think it’s the heart that has to open For awakening to enter the lived life But really its the whole being That has to open And the heart is an aspect Of that opening. -------------------- Know your life As something beautiful Even with the failure Or sense of suffering Let that tender beauty Embrace all that feels wrong With you or the world Come out of your head And enter the vastness Of your eternal spirit.
