THE FIRE INSIDE
We are born with a fire
Latent in our being
At our center
Essential for our life
The root of our creativity
Our passion and our service
The very foundation of our sovereignty
And our inner authority
That fire, where does it go?
What happens over the years
Of constant conditioning
As we become molded into ourselves
The name, the persona, the identity
The wounds, the retractions from life
The endless compromises
As those entrusted with our care
Unconsciously inflict their own wounds upon us
Where does it go?
For if we do not find out
And consciously search for it as adults
As we grow and mature
We are in danger of walking this world
With no fire, with smoldering embers
With a lackluster way
And a light that has dimmed
Searching, searching, searching,
For something outside
To fill the hole we feel inside
Something to replace the fire
That has all but gone out
We must find that fire
You may call this the spiritual search
I call this the search for our fire
That which is our true birthright
Our essence
I say to you
Seek it with all your heart and being
With all your wit and wisdom
Bring everything you have to discover
What lies latent within you
And rekindle that fire
Get it roaring
Get it blazing
And then share it with others.
