THE CALL OF GRACE

A Selection of Short Poems

Friends, here are some of this week’s offerings, as always mostly on Twitter.
I seem to post about eight poems a day these days. That’s fifty six poems a week! Admittedly some are no more than three lines, and ironically they are often the best received, but who cares, I love it and I get good feedback and a growing amount of support.

So here they are.

Don’t resist your call to deepen
The pull you feel
Is the divine tugging at your soul.

This heart, this mind,
Serve only love’s blazing fire
Don’t come here complaining
That life has treated you badly
We are all drenched in suffering
Torn open by it all
But let us choose to walk
With bold dignity
Even in this.

There is no reason for anything
Until you realize there is only
One reason for everything
To open our hearts 
And remember 
The unconditional love we are.

Even in this cruel
And sometimes despicable world
There is always some goodness 
Often hidden in the smallest of gestures 
Or the quietest of places
Find that beauty and serve it.

Truly I know no other way
To get through this
Than to love
With a heart blown open.

There is a part of you
Free of ancestry
Free of conditioning
And cultural definition
That undefined, unknown
Unbound and wildly free part
That's the part 
I want to dance with
Liberate yourself.

Step into your naked authority 
Claim it back as your birthright
Release the memories, the scars and wounds
Let it all be the way it was
You are here now, not then
Find your truth and speak it
Be it, live it, love it.

The pull of the truth
The pull of awakening
Once it starts
It never stops
Give yourself to it
Surrender again and again
Face the choiceless choice
Give in to your soul’s calling
Even though you don’t know
Where it will lead
Trust it
Just trust the calling itself.

Walk with grace
Lightly stepping through life
One foot in the eternal
And one foot in the relative
Not jumping between the two
But at the same time

This is not spiritual palliative
But essential for navigating 
The turbulent waves
The phenomenal world
Throws at us.
