Sinking into a sorrow That seems to have no cause If tears arise and fall They are free to do so I will not resist I will not name the place they come from For I do not know where Yet my heart aches Not with a longing But with this causeless sorrow I will let it pour forth, And if these tears should fall upon the ground They will be the water of my humanity That feeds and loves the garden so much I am in love Not with things Or individual experience But with the miracle we call life Maybe the sorrow is That this miracle is not recognized As the distraction and pain of life Is borne and inflicted I will sit for a while And gaze into the emptiness Allow life’s sorrow to flow And give it no name.
