SILENCE IN THE NOISE

My worst habit is
I get tired of the endless argument
That flourishes on the surface of life

The gift in this habit
Is that it pushes me back 
Into the silence of being
At the root of all that manifests

Silence is the only true resting place
Here there is no division
No squabble, no misunderstanding

Now, to remember and make one’s home in silence,
Even as the noise and righteous argument looms large
That is surely the warrior’s path in this life!
