ONE BIG ORGANISM
The phrase
‘Nothing is separate,’
Is not an idealogical theory
Or a hopeful spiritual dream
It is a living truth
We have forgotten
In our fear and arrogance
We have pitted ourselves against everything
As though we are islands, separate and alone,
Apart from ourselves, each other, creatures, nature,
The planet, and the universe itself
What folly!
This type of belief will never lead to harmony
For we have isolated ourselves from what we are
And that can only lead to this endless
Inner and outer division, causing mayhem and madness
We are one big organism
All of it, from the smallest to the largest
Everything living and breathing one breath
We are part of the very nature of life
And we will surely discover
That this feeble attempt at domination and superiority
Is creating an existential suffering
From which we must awaken
And take our true place
As harmonious custodians of life
Part of the whole
Not better, not worse, just different
Bless this miraculous life
And take nothing for granted.
