LOVE IS LIKE WATER
Starved of the ability
To give and receive love
He shriveled up like a dried prune
Love is what plumps us up
And declares our beauty and depth
Love is what shines through our skin
It is the nourishment we need
Love is like water
We cannot live without it
But we don’t die
We just shrivel up and become dry and mean
It is an agonizing end to the possibility
We arrived here with
If you wonder why I talk of love so much
It is because I have seen people deny it
And struggle to avoid all that comes with it,
The emotion, the deepest feeling, the vulnerability,
The tears, anger and grief
And they have dried up and become the living dead.
