I write poems to keep the beauty of the soul alive. For a long time in my life I was in the dark. Love was a word I loathed, mainly because it brought up the pain of my wounds and a fear of vulnerability. In truth I had to process much anger, grief and fear before I could open to even the possibility of love. Eventually a deep transformation happened, not of my doing, but maybe from my undoing, and I began to know love as the ground of my being. No longer a thing to be transacted, it became the fragrance of this garden called Kavi. Love calls us all in our unique way through the very experiences we have.
It changed my life knowing that.
Here are some poems.
Inner wisdom Is a million butterflies Locked in a pandora’s box Deep within Each being Opening the box Appears terrifying But brings astonishing freedom. -------------------------- If we could just sit And be with each other In the silence Of the unspoken It would be enough There is such a healing to be found In the deepest communion. ------------------------- I found something Deeply tender within myself When I practiced being kind to others That simple practice Softened the whole experience And brought a great equanimity. ------------------------- Just this... An endless giving up Of the self that seeks To own and control everything Until there is No more self to give up. ------------------------ To know your true light Enter your darkness With presence. ------------------------ Give freely of yourself People will feel it And do the same. ------------------------- Some times I just sit Quietly and contemplatively Watching the universe turn On the great arc of eternity. ------------------------- RETURN TO THE GARDEN. Heart is heavy Weighed down by mind Essential purity of love Covered over by past pain Mind is foggy Clouded by fear Clear seeing occluded Divided by righteousness Weary humans Lost and angry Desperate for meaning Grabbing illusory power In the face of eternity We have given ourselves to a dream Believing it to be real Stumbled into a dark forest Full of tyrannous shadows And menacing threats Only the silent humility of openness The peace that passeth mind’s understanding Can bring us back to our light Tears may fall, thunder may rage Grief’s rain may become an ocean And swallow us up But it will be true And our hearts and minds Will be cleansed of past pain And resolved of righteousness And we will return to the garden Renewed and refreshed from our dream. ------------------------------ Hold your inner compass steady And you will be guided, The sun and the moon The stars and the heavens And the silent one inside Know secrets That will quietly show you the way. ------------------------------ What are these clouds That seem so heavy Obscuring the sun They are nothing more Than the sorrow Of our forgetting And our joy of remembering.
