KEEP BEAUTY ALIVE
In the midst of division keep beauty alive. Not external beauty, but the beauty of the innermost. The beauty of love’s kindness. The beauty of love’s compassion. The beauty of grief and recognition of suffering. The beauty that sees the light inside and behind and in the darkness. The beauty that refuses to jump into ideology and hatred. The beauty that will not be manipulated or press ganged into joining the mob.
Without the remembrance of the beauty that transcends the appearance of difference I don’t know what the point is.
We are in difficult times. Reach out and love someone. Tell them you see their beauty.
Today I will keep my counsel And remain mostly quiet There is enough noise In this cruel and confused world The silence of being May be the only antidote And the greatest healing In silence we are unshakeable. --------------------------- In our grief a beauty shines The heart is revealed As not made of stone But of flesh and blood and spirit We remember we are fragile creatures Walking a precarious path With little knowledge of what awaits. -------------------------- If you stop for long enough And rest in the silence Your past karma catches up with you And the noise of thought Reveals itself This is why meditation Can be so painful. -------------------------- I don’t know what will bring your joy But I do know that denial of feelings And avoidance of what hurts Creates a shadow That follows you around Trying to get your attention Because it wants to come home And only you can welcome it. ------------------------- Searching for words To describe the incredible depth Of sorrow at all suffering He arrived at silence And stayed with that. ------------------------- Be above no-one And below no-one Simply be Stop feeding the hungry ghost Of your ego. ------------------------ I have woken up With heart broken again No smart poetic answers To the suffering that rages In places I do not know No fancy spiritual philosophy That shields them When the bombs fall Just a tiny voice that whispers The love of peace Even in the midst of war. -------------------------- It was not searching That led me here It was grace And a willingness To undo all that was done up. -------------------------- I have been to the place of inner darkness many times And each time I have seen the light Until now I can no longer distinguish One from the other. --------------------------- We both worked hard on ourselves We let go of so much baggage And now we meet in every moment In this effortless open field of love It is ordinary, natural and exquisite And not a day goes by I am not grateful to grace For this meeting with the divine In human form.
