HEART ON FIRE

A new collection of poems

Greetings to you. Here are a few more of my poems, this week’s outpouring. A restless week internally, I found myself in the depths of the ocean, feeling, sensing, almost touching, what seemed to be not just my own experience but also the collective.
I have learned over time to not resist, nor take personally, whatever arises within my experience. It all seems to rise and fall on its own.

Live as though
Your heart
Was on fire
It is
But you keep 
Ignoring the flames.

Why not let go
and see your life
as a glorious
masterpiece
of darkness 
and light,
of joy and sorrow,
a dance of form
in emptiness.

this is freedom.

Stay empty
Allow yourself
To be porous
And the world
And its delusion
Will flow through you
But it will not stick to you.

Culture comes
And culture goes
To be so stuck to it
And defined by it
Secures the prison gates
Of the self

Break free
Leave culture behind
Live wildly
Rooted in the timelessness
Of your being.

One who cannot face
Their own shadow
Will be haunted by it 
For the rest of their life

It’s not some entity or phantom
But denied past wounds
Trying to get back home.

All is one
Under the sky
The crows
The coyotes
The tiny insects
Tree, river, ocean
And the fish
That swims upstream
And me
Standing here
Gazing into the emptiness.

The word is the sound of time
Silence is the sound of eternity.

Show me your true face
Your brokenness and despair
Your wounded heart
Not your excuses or blame
I know the innocence 
Beyond your wounds

This willingness to reveal your true self
Is what your heart and soul long for
Give them this gift
And they will bless you.

The inner flame
Of light
Is there
Within you
Even now

Turn towards it
With the longing
Of the moth

This is grace.

Give up all ideas
About where you are going
Or where you are from

The sky, the moon
The trees and the sun
Even the creatures
That surround us
Don’t ask pointless questions
They are too busy
Leaning into existence
Now.
