We are the delicate and fragile bridge between form and formlessness. Here by divine invitation, we are bestowed the task of custodianship of nature, whether that nature is our own body or the body of the world.
We are given a scared contract to fulfill, rooted in compassion and kindness. But we quickly lose ourselves in the great forgetting. It seems the forgetting is built into us not as something wrong but as something right. Part of the growing of us. Spiritual seeking is the journey of remembering. And once remembered life is never the same again. Something fundamental changes in our relationship to existence.
We remember what is important and what is sacred. We stop living from ‘me’ as the center of life and live instead from the recognition that all is woven together on the same tapestry. This is a glorious awakening into communion. Life grows a different meaning in us, a maturation that endeavors to bring the sacred into all relationships and all experience. It’s not always easy of course, but it is always worth it.
A few poems from this week’s arising.
If you get very still And utterly silent You can feel time As it winds its path Through eternity. ------------------------ Don’t imagine you stand outside existence You are an expression of all that is A wave arising from the ocean Yet still inextricably woven into that ocean How can you be separate from anything? ------------------------ Make friends with impermanence It will bring grace and wisdom And the capacity to weather The vicissitudes of life. ------------------------- Leave the world And become empty and silent Return to the world With that silence and emptiness Be as the air that moves Through all things If no one notices you, all is well If someone notices you, all is well. ------------------------- We are frightened of breaking Of cracking the shell Terrified as we are Of what will happen if we break So we hold on for dear life And never know the peace Or the softness That lies therein. -------------------------- A kind of equanimity came upon me And I saw all things as one thing As though the self had completely melted The cliff had fallen back into the ocean And the wave dissolved. ---------------------------- Settle for nothing less than integrity of word and deed From yourself and those you surround yourself with. ----------------------------- Sometimes I can sense My non existence Around the corner It makes me love Each precious moment So much more. --------------------------- You are the sacred bridge Between form and formlessness What grace has been offered you To be both. ---------------------------- Look deep within And you will find An emptiness Pulsating with light How can you say you are a thing When the whole universe Is inside you.
