Friend, why not fly through the clouds
Into the firmament
Up, beyond the pull of gravity,
The gravity that holds us here
But pins us down
Out, through the outer layers
Of whatever field of energy
Allows the multitude of life to exist
On this blue ball of uniqueness
Into the dark and empty fullness of space
The first astronauts who ventured out into the darkness
Developed such a respect and love when they looked at home,
Alone and tiny in the great scheme of things
Vulnerable and miraculous in the eternal wheel
Why do we forget so easily
And become entangled in our pettiness
In our gripes and righteous complaints
In our arguments and wars
Remembering is such sweet humility
We are but flickers of light
That pass through the dark sky
Remember, remember, remember.
We have moved! It was a tough week physically and energetically last week as we did the whole thing ourselves (with the help of one who volunteered) but we did it and managed to sort out some of our gear. We are still very much in cat mode (at least I am, being ultra sensitive to new environments, on high alert for danger, new sounds and general trouble) and Peyote is still finding his way around. But I have done some garden clearance which has been fabulous for the soul.
Thanks so much for the support and encouragement. We are both very keen to get on with the next part of our journey.
ps. It was Peyote’s birthday at the weekend, here is his response.
Thanks for this today. I love the ending and as usual the reminder. Moving is exhausting on so many levels. I am glad for you both that the hardest part is over. Gardening is soul work and for me nothing is quite as centering and healing as creating in that way. All the best in the settling in process and feeling like a cat in new surroundings. Peyote's birthday!
