ENLIGHTENMENT OF THE HEART
True love is the awakening of the heart—free from attachment, unconditional, and boundless.
Through our conditioning, we have made love small, dependent on others, tangled in the neediness we've carried from childhood. But this kind of love is merely a shadow of love's true nature.
In many ways we consider enlightenment more to do with the mind than the heart. But an enlightenment that neglects the heart is lopsided and dry.
Don’t mistake the love I speak of in my poetry as something small. It is vast, all-pervading, and exquisite, and in its non attachment it is free to be itself.
This is why I say true love is the enlightenment of the heart.
Be noble in your suffering Not by force or struggling to be anything But by bearing the unbearable With a kind of dignity of self compassion. It heals all beings, including you. ------------------ The ecstatic eternal divine blessing Pours in through us, as us We are the miracle of creation A moment in time And then life With its heavy karma And ancestral burden Crashes into us And our innocence and divine origin Is hijacked by amnesia... Friend, grace is the remembering. ------------------ Clean the inner temple It's gathered dust and debris An endless array of the unresolved clutter For there is a special guest coming Honor their visit by making your temple empty. ------------------- Live with heart on fire But mind at peace Let mind serve heart Not dominate it We are born for service to love. -------------------- The pull of fear is strong And keeps us trapped on the surface Separated from our presence Cut off from our connection to the divine But the pull of love is deep And reminds us of our innate authority Rooted in the earth And connected to the heavens Remember love. -------------------- I walk the ragged path Of openness and prayer The mystery of existence Flowing through these veins Bones imbued with ancestor’s Blood, sweat and fears I stretch back to the beginning of man Yet belong to no-one I am one thing And everything The walking paradox All life gathered up In one life Humbling. ---------------------- It is fleeting There is not enough time To carry grievances Step back and see your life From the eyes of eternity Remember to love without conditions. --------------------- Be a conduit for healing Wherever you go Not by doing anything But by being present And listening From an open heart and mind. ---------------------- And when the rigid defenses of the self Rise up again as if ready for war, Simply say, ‘No, not this time. I'm in love with the beloved. I'm in love with openness. I'm in love with that which is beyond the self. I'm in love with that which cannot even be named.'
A new video I made. ‘Know Yourself, Go Deeper, Face What arises, Love It.’
Thanks for your time.
