A TENDER EMBRACE

Let these words be a tender embrace that softens hard edges, and welcomes any remaining struggle with life. The truth of impermanence could be the great unifier of humanity if we would but allow it to penetrate the collective heart. But we cannot wait for anyone else and must do this primarily for ourselves.

Last year’s brief time spent working with a man facing his imminent impermanence and the grace with which he opened to it still resonates deeply with my own being. Although he was coming to me for some ‘wisdom,’ he left me with his grace and for that I am very grateful.

His final words to me were, ‘Thank you for your friendship. I'm sure we will remain friends forever.’ Yes.

Seeker, fret not,
You keep stripping away layer upon layer
Until you arrive at emptiness.

To realize
God is in the searching
And in the finding
Is freedom.

it takes genuine heart
and great courage
to soften oneself
into love's surrender
the true warrior is one
who turns their back
on the crowd
and lives in humble strength.

There is beauty everywhere
But we are so distracted
We fail to see it

As the veil of illusion dissolves
And we fall deeper into the mystery
That beauty reveals itself to us
More and more
It was always here
We were not
We are now.

I discovered that my joy
Did not exclude my sorrow
And that my peace
Included the waves.

Our real power lies
Not in transcending the world
Or denying it
But in meeting it fully, openly,
Without judgement and projection.

Bear it all
The waves of duality
The pendulum that swings
The storm that rises and falls
The brokenness, the suffering
See it, know it, feel it
Deny nothing
Yet stand in your equanimous being
In the center, immovable, noble and present.

All I really did 
Was dismantle
The layers of 
False protection
And armoring 
That created 
An imaginary me

And lived from what was left

The journey was painful
The relief was blissful
The result was natural.

Be fearless
Not by conquering fear
But by accepting it
And not assuming
It will go away.

The world is not starved of love
It is starved of those 
Who are prepared to serve love
With every fiber of their being.
